COLIBA Africa is an Ivorian social enterprise founded in 2017, dedicated to addressing the critical issue of plastic waste. Our mission is to structure and industrialize plastic waste recycling in Africa, while prioritizing the empowerment of women and leveraging mobile technologies to drive sustainable change. Since 2022, COLIBA Africa has established 30 plastic waste collection centers in Abidjan and Bouaké, providing a structured and fair working environment for over 6,200 informal plastic waste collectors in more than 18 cities across Côte d'Ivoire. By ensuring fair compensation for the materials collected, we are not only enhancing recycling programs but also creating green jobs that contribute to reducing plastic pollution. In 2023, our efforts generated $420,000 in additional income for these collectors, and we aim to reach $1 million by 2026.

By providing waste pickers with protective equipment (PPE), health and safety training, and formal employment opportunities, Libe Green Innovation helps create dignified livelihoods, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)

By processing 2.8 tons of recycled LDPE/HDPE plastic monthly from agriculture and domestic use, we enhance recycling programs and minimize waste sent to landfills, playing a key role in removing pollution from the environment
