Community Engagement on waste plastics Roadmap

This Road map focuses on preparing for mass community awareness and organizing beach and community cleanup activities in Dar es Salaam’s municipalities: Dar es Salaam City Council, Ubungo, Kinondoni, and Temeke. Key efforts include identifying strategic venues for awareness campaigns and cleanup events, coordinating with municipal authorities to ensure the active participation of government officials, and finalizing schedules and logistics. Facilitators and volunteers will be engaged and trained on effective strategies for community engagement, plastic waste identification, and segregation. Additionally, materials and resources required for the cleanup and awareness sessions will be prepared. The outcome is a detailed, stakeholder-approved plan to guide successful awareness and cleanup events in the targeted municipalities.

Increase collection volume and washing Roadmap

COLIBA AFRICA is seeking funding to acquire a new washing machine, a critical step in improving its recycling operations and expanding its environmental and social impact. This investment will significantly increase the facility's recycling capacity, enabling COLIBA to process more plastic and boost its collection volume from 200 to 300 tons per month. The new washing machine will also directly create 10 new green jobs, further supporting COLIBA’s commitment to social inclusion by integrating more informal waste pickers into its formal workforce. This not only enhances operational efficiency but also strengthens the livelihoods of local communities. In addition to operational improvements, this initiative underpins COLIBA’s educational efforts, which aim to reach an additional 2,000 students, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability and the importance of waste management. By funding this essential equipment, you will be contributing to a tangible solution that scales recycling rates, creates meaningful employment, and drives environmental education, making a lasting impact on both the planet and local communities.
